2012-A Year in Projects

My friend Dee Dee, of UmWow Studio, has thrown out a challenge to share our top 10 favorite project of 2012.  When I looked back I couldn’t believe all the projects I have done this year… and I really had a hard time narrowing it down to ten.
I decided I would work my way backwards in order of newest to oldest…
First a 12x12 layout of my nieces this Christmas, I love this picture!!
This is a gift card box I gave my brother and sister-in-law (with a gift card in it) for Christmas.
Gift card box Next is my December design team project, Reflections of {YOU}
to shareAnd then my November design team project, Thankful for Moments.

Tag ATCHere is a 12x12 layout I did for the VLVS! design team call…I didn’t make it but I will try again next time and I really like all the projects I did!!
Occult LOI have made a couple of these tealight holders but this is my favorite, I think…inspired by a project Scrappy Canuck did as her farewell post over at The Crop.
This was a canvas I made as a gift for some friends…
Nate Canvas - CCA card for a Crop Chocolate challenge, #24 Totally up to You
Challenge 24And last but not least…this was one of my first focus group challenge entries.  A challenge that Amber’s husband Brantley picked…inspired by sunsets.

Christmas Quickie

Today when I got home from work I decided to go into my scrappy space for a little relaxation…I worked on my ‘bulk’ Christmas cards, you know, the ones you send out to all the friends and family… it is a process so I do a little at a time.  Suddenly I decided to challenge myself to make a Christmas card in 30 minutes or less.  You might think it is impossible but alas, it is not!  I have a stash of one of a kind Christmas cards on hand for those special folks I want to give a special card to.  This is what I came up with:
X-mas quickie
Echo Park Dots and Stripes and Distress Ink-Walnut Stain purchased at Crop Chocolate, Bazzil cardstock, kraft card base, vintage music, stickles, hemp twine, May Arts burlap twine, Unity stamp and Tim Holtz dies.
X-mas quickie close
I met my challenge to myself… 26 minutes 37 seconds, what do you think??

Challenge 37 at Crop Chocolate:  Adding texture to your project is a quick and easy way to create dimension and interest. This week, Nina and I-I being Miwa (based in Nina’s October project which is super cool-click here to see it) challenge you to add texture to your project (Anything goes! A card, layout, home decor, altered art, etc.) with an unusual and/or uncommon material, such as corrugated cardboard, burlap, pasty substances, or any other kind of 'rough' material.
I LOVE using uncommon and unusual materials.  I made a card…
CC products: CC shipping box, Echo Park Apothecary Emporium and Chillingsworth Manor, Carta Bella Kraft CS, Distress Ink-Walnut Stain, Bazzil CS, WRMK glitter brads
Non-CC products: Sissix die, gesso, stamps from VLVS!, Hero Arts and Inkadinkado.

Those bears are way too cute.

Please PM me over at Crop Chocolate with your name and address and I will get your sweet SURPRISE in the mail.

Neutrals and Brights

Halloween is right around the corner and while it is not my favorite holiday, it’s beginning to grow on me.  It isn’t a big card making holiday either but I have done a couple in the last few weeks…including this one for the latest Crop Chocolate challenge.
Nina, a fellow Chocolatier, picked this weeks challenge based on my October design team project:  “I love how Michele mixed kraft and those fun bright colors on her project! So I want you to make a project using a neutral (such as kraft, black, white, grey, brown) and 3 bright colors.”
So it was only fitting that my project was inspired by her entry for the challenge.  Her card is super cute (click here to see it) and you can see a couple of her others on her blog by clicking here.
Crop Chocolate product: EP Chillingworth Manor and For the Record 2, Carta Bella Kraft CS, MM Spooky Alley clear stamp, Xyron Mega Runner
Non-CC: Kraftin Kimmie Pumpkinhead stamp, Momento ink and marker, burlap twine

OWH Blog Hop Winner Announcements!

We, the Crop Chocolate design team, had an amazing blog hop this past week benefiting Operation Write Home.  Each of our blogs had challenges for those willing to tackle them.  My challenge was to use an OWH sketch that I picked and make as many different cards as you could.  I had some AMAZING cards linked up for my challenge and because of all the talent out there I decided to give away several more prizes.
OK, so the first prize is the main blog candy for posting the most cards…21 cards by NinaN.  They were so beautiful, she is one talented lady!  Check out all of her work here.
Next, I am giving 24” of handmade washi tape to all of the ladies that did 20 or more cards.  I had two!!  NinaN and anne (Bo on CC).
IMG_5440Now, I decided to give the same washi to my friend Paula because she linked up super duper fast on the very first day (and then linked up even more a couple days later)!  This lady did hundreds (literally) of BEAUTIFUL cards to send to OWH.  You should hop over and see what she has been up to by clicking here.
I also did a random draw using from all those who commented during the blog and all those who linked up cards.
IMG_5441 IMG_5442
LBAB was selected from all those who commented AND LucyE (Haf2scrap of CC) from all those who linked up.
I would like to say THANKS again to all those who stopped by, hopped or linked up!!  I love hearing from you and seeing what you are creating!!
If you see your name above please message me over at Crop Chocolate with your address so I can get you some chocolatey sweetness out in the mail!!
