Moon Over Malibu

I got some of the Maritime Collection by 7 Gypsies in my December kit for Scrappy Chic.  I just love paper with maps!!

This is Ancre, aren’t the colors just amazing?!!  We also had some Maya Road polaroid chip pieces in our kit.  I used Distress paint, sanded and inked one of the large one up to make it looked aged.   I used some Tim Holtz trinkets, May Arts ribbon, VLVS! images and UmWow Studio chip to create the layers.  There is also a studio Calico pin and a vintage scrabble piece making an appearance.

My goal for 2014 is to learn about layers and balance in crafting.  This is a good start but I have far to go…what do you think??

Using Leftovers

Over at Cuttin’ and Stampin’ the challenge (#51) is to use up your leftovers.  I made a quick card ALL from scraps, even the twine!

bday card

Scraps of 7 Dot Studio, WeR, Echo Park, Bazzill and MME papers, May Arts burlap twine, left over gems.  The only thing that wasn’t a leftover was the brand new VLVS! sentiment stamped in archival ink.

Still time to enter the challenge…I know you have ‘leftovers’!!

Created and Recreated…

I made this fun ornament for my aunt for Christmas.  I am in love with the white sisal (bottle brush) trees and used a bunch for my holiday crafting.

Using my most favorite UmWow Studio layered star chipboard I created a tree topper for my tree.  Added a sled and some snow to complete the wintery scene.  Topped off the ornament with a beautiful golden May Arts ribbon.
My aunt loved the ornament but in all the hub bub we had a Christmas casualty…

Now, some of you may know this about me but…when I find a deal or something I really like I buy more than one so I was able to recreate the ornament.

My aunt will  be happy when I deliver this safely  to her house for next Christmas!

Holiday Thank You Cards

I have amazing friends and family.  They are so generous with their gift giving and I am so grateful!!  I wanted to make some special holiday thank you cards to send to them all!

I used my favorite combinations of goods on these cards; UmWow Studio star confetti, VLVS! with love stamp and May Arts burlap twine.  The papers are WeR North Pole and Echo Park This and That on kraft card bases.  The tree is punch with an ek success punch.

I used pop dots for the last layer of paper for some depth.

Thanks 3

Changed up a little by using different stars from the confetti.

And the final touch was the tree shape that was punched.
Simple and yet, so me!!  I am excited to send them out!
I hope you had a great Christmas and a safe and happy new year!

May Arts Christmas Craft Challenge

I am SO excited to be sharing with you my entry in the May Arts Christmas Craft Challenge!!

This one was SUPER fun!!!!
These are the ribbons we had to select from, up to four to use on your project.
I picked the Mini Pom PomSolid Stitched Center ribbon, Twill/Chevron Stripes ribbon and Sheer/Tinsel Edge ribbon.  I also used some May Arts goodness from my stash, 1/4” silk, burlap twine and net ribbon.
My project is Christmas home decor.  I made some stuffed trees, hard to describe so I will just show you!
Trees pine
The ribbon is sewn on to a burlap background which is then attached to stuffed muslin stained green with Distress Stain.  The trunks are vintage spools.  I made the tree toppers with 2 different pins, one if which is from an UmWow Studio embellish kit, and added UWS layered stars painted with gold crackle paint.
