Princess Ball

I am challenging myself this year to complete at least 3 layouts each month.  So far, so good…and today I would like to share one of the layouts I did this month for Scrappy Chic.  My favorite thing about this layout, besides the subject ;), is the tag for hidden journaling.
Here is what I used:  Fab Scraps Travel Culture 2, Echo Park Springtime, Heidi Swap flowers, Prima paper flowers, Queen and Co. Twinkle Motif, Pink Paislee acrylic flower, American Crafts brad, I-top small and medium custom brads, crinkle ribbon, May Arts Jute-black, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist-Atlantic, Oriental Poppy, Black Cherry and Almost Black, Mister Huey mist-white, Distress Ink-Walnut Stain, washi tape.

This Fab Scraps paper has great detail on it and is very versatile.  Be sure to look for it when you are at Scrappy Chic next time!!

2 Tier Stand

There has been a lot of talk about storage lately and I have been doing some research on Pinterest for ideas.  I found a couple of tiered stands that really intrigued me…so I combined all the fabulous ideas I saw and came up with this super cute 2 tier stand.  The problem is that I can’t decide if I want to use it for cupcakes or if I want to use it in my craft room for all my mists, stains, glazes, etc.  What do you think??  I can hear some of you now… ‘Just make another one!’  Well I might just do that.

I used wood spools, a dowl and a round plaque along with burner covers I picked up at the dollar store, can you believe it.  I also used, all from Crop Chocolate, MME Miss Caroline Howdy Doody Beautiful Rose paper, MME Lush paper, Fancy Pants velvet ribbon, Distress Ink-Walnut Stain.  And of course Mod Podge and Folk Art acrylic paint from my stash.

For a complete how to:

I hope you try it and of course I can't wait to see what you come up with!!!

Photo Holder

You may have heard or seen that I was recently asked to join the design team over at Scrappy Chic in Livonia, MI.  I am SO excited and honored to be a part of this team!!  Scrappy Chic is the place to be for crops and classes, not to mention all of the AMAZING scrappy products you will find there!!  Check out the calendar on the web-site for all sorts of fun activities.
I have been working on my projects for March and wanted to share this cute photo holder inspired by a very creative friend of mine, Dee Dee.  You can check out her amazingness at UmWow Studio.
The base on this photo holder is a scrap piece of 2x4 that I stained with Distress Stain-Walnut Stain.  When the stain was dry I twisted some wire and inserted it into 2 holes I drilled into the top of the block.  Then I covered it with Kaiser Craft’s Basecoat Collection-Weathered and topped of with a coat of Distress Crackle Paint-Clear Rock Candy.  When that dried I swiped some Distress Ink-Walnut Stain over the block so the ‘crackle’ gave it an aged look.
Next I took some Maya Road Tutu Tulle ribbon and sprayed with with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist-Burlap and hot glued it around the block…just like a tutu!  I used May Arts Chevron ribbon-pink around the top and tied a bow.
Of course the fun part is embellishing and you can do so many things with this block.  I went girly and made some roses out of MME Miss Caroline Howdy Doody-Happy.  I made the flower center with Liquid Pearls-White and Petal Pink.  Wired some leaves I cut with a Tim Holtz die and covered them with Stickles-Crystal.  These I glued all around the bottom the the wire photo holder.

You can see this displayed in the store next time you are there.  Hope you like it!!
I will be sharing my other projects throughout the month so come back soon!!

Tattered Floral Challenge

I am a BIG fan of all things Tim Holtz!  Right now over at the Tim Holtz blog there is a challenge using the Tattered Floral die.  Tim shows a great technique for making some pins using the die and I thought these would be perfect for Easter corsages this year for my mom and aunts.

I also decided to send one of these beauties to my friend Karen who won some handmade blog candy on my blog last week.  I am sending it to her on a tag I made using the Tim Holtz Easter blueprint stamps.

Anything Goes…

This week at Crop Chocolate the challenge, #48, is anything goes.  AND if you can use 100% Crop Chocolate product your entry count twice!!  Here is my second entry, inspired by Kathy’s January project showing a ‘cracked glass’ technique.  You can see a great tutorial here.

Challenge 48aI started with an olive jar, a candle stick I got in the after Christmas clearance and some unfinished wood pieces.  The jar is altered using the cracked glass technique…I love this technique and I love using the Crackle Paint on all kinds of things.  Everything else was glued and spray painted.

I also used Distress Stain-Brushed Pewter and Broken China, Distress Ink-Walnut Stain, BG Kioshi, Glossy Accents, Slice cordless cutter all from Crop Chocolate.  Other items used:  black velvet ribbon, hug snug, Tim Holtz tattered floral die, floral pins, Ranger sealer and a beautiful UmWow Studio resin piece (frame).

I was super happy with how this turned out…it is going to make a perfect Valentines gift !!!
