Viva Las Vegastamps! ATC Swap

I absolutely LOVE participating in the VLVS! swaps.  This last one was ATC's and the theme was metal.  You can see all the ATC's submitted for the swap over at the VLVS! blog.

I wanted to share mine while I wait for the (4) that I will get back from other amazing artists.

I used a metal ATC base and metal gears along with the steam engine stamp that screams metal to me.  I also used an Um Wow Studio mask, checkerboard, with gold crackle paste.

We made a set of (5), (4) to swap and (1) to stay on display at the VLVS! store.

If you are interested in these swaps visit the facebook group called Viva Las VegaStamps! groupies for the next one which is about to start... see you there!!

Be An Adventurer

I was INSPIRED by a card I saw over at Viva Las Vegastamps!  and let me tell you that is something lately since I have lost my 'spark'...  Jingle did a fun card using a stamp I just got in my last package of rubbah. You can hers here.

And this is mine...

Map of the World and be an ADVENTURER are stamped in archival ink.  I used a single star from my Um Wow Studio star confetti which is painted with distress paint.  The plane is cut with my Cameo and the burlap twine is May Arts.  Oh and all the paper is from my scrap bin!

Fun CAS card right?!?!

Challenge #97 at Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo-Black and White

The current challenge over at Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo is to use a black and white photo.

I was just given a bunch of vintage photos of people that are somehow related but no one really knows who they are anymore...perfect for crafting if you ask me!!!

I made a baby card with 7 Dot Studios Nature Walk collection, Gray Day and Winged Vines.

The sentiment is from the Nature Walk sentiment sticker page.  I also used UmWow Studios coordinating soar tags chip and butterfly confetti.

You can barely see it in the pictures but I also used the butterfly swarm mask with some high gloss embossing powder from Viva Las Vegastamps!

A Prima flower with a May Arts suede leaf...

And May Arts silk ribbon to attach the tag and a bit of burlap twine on the banner.

I am also linking up to the 7 Dot Studio blog where the March challenge is 'Fly Away'.  This was such a happy coincidence that this card works for this challenge too!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Color Challenge

March 18-March 24
Weekly Challenge - Color Challenge
This week we are creating with COLOR over at Cuttin' and Stampin'.  Today I am sharing a tag I made for a good friend whose birthday is right around the corner. :)
We are using Simple Stories Homespun collection which you can find at the Cuttin' and Stampin' facebook store.  The colors to use are blue, green, red and yellow.
Before I show you the finished product I have a couple of pictures of the process I used to create the background on my tag.
First I did some watercolor stamping.
Then I used part of one of the journaling cards as a mask for a little more texture.

Now here is the finished tag.  All paper is from the Homespun collection.

I also used several May Arts ribbons, Spellbinder dies for the flowers, Perfect Pearls, Distress Ink in Walnut Stain and a sentiment and background stamp from VLVS!
I just love all the color on this happy tag!

You still have a couple of days to get your project using blue, green, red and yellow linked up on our challenge blog.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Until next time...get inky often!

Spring Dandelion

I am trying to build up my stash of birthday cards because there are quite a few coming up soon.  This one is and 8"x4" CAS yet bold one using Authentique Elegant for the base and some scraps to create the layers.

I used several Tattered Angels Glimmer mist on my gelli plate to create the watercolor background and stamped one of my first and favorite still, VLVS! images, blowing dandelion.

Tied a bow with Mary Arts ribbon...

And stamped my favorite VLVS! sentiment, make a wish, along with of few extra dandelion seeds.

Now I just need to cut a matching envelope...  :)

Matchbook Mini

My last collection for my Scrappy Chic March kit is by Marion Smith, Never Grow Up.  I thought it was appropriate for a tiny little Insta mini matchbook with pictures of my nieces.

I cut this little mini with my Cameo, used some brads from my stash to hold it together, fussy cut some of the details from the paper to embellish the front, added some May Arts burlap twine and a Kaisercraft flower.  The stamp, you color my world, is from VLVS!.

This mini is absolutely perfect for my beloved Instagram photos!!

Perfect to carry around for those bragging moments...  :)

Masculine Birthday Card

'Boy' cards are hard for me, how about you??  I feel like ribbon and twine isn't very masculine...I am trying to change the way I think about it but it will take some time I think.

In the meantime I have been collecting some manly stamps.  VLVS! has a HUGE selection, you can find WHATEVER you are looking for there!!

This is the steam train stamp front and center.  I cut this flip card with my Cameo and used my UMW checkerboard mask with some crackle paste.

Inside I used the make a wish sentiment, steam train and whimsical cloud.

I just love the crackle of this paste!!

Good Ol' Sport Cards

March's kit from Scrappy Chic was packed, 6 collections...this is number 5.  Graphic 45 Good Ol' Sport Collection.  It is a totally masculine line and I thought it would be perfect to make a collection of cards because I am always struggling with 'boy' cards...

I cut a 4x6 box with my Cameo and embellished with paper from the collection and MME washi tape.  I used Touchdown, Play Ball and Victory to create my cards.  Paper Smooches sentiment stamps, May Arts burlap twine, seam binding and a couple of buttons finished off this card set.

I used the WeR envelope board to cut 4x6 envelopes for my cards.

Thanks for stopping by!!

A New Day!

More from my March kit for Scrappy Chic!!  This time with Prima's Cartographer Collection.

I had so much fun with all the mixed media goodness on this layout!!  Marvellieux and Mots D' Amour are layered to create the base for this beautiful Malibu sunrise.  I also used a couple of the brads from the collection along with May Arts ribbon, distress paint, gesso, crackle paste, distress stain, Tattered Angles glimmer mist in Cork.  My gelli plate, a brayer and my favorite UWS mask (checkerboard) were used in different ways to layer up all that media.  Background stamps from VLVS!, chicken wire and map of the world stamped in archival ink are under a thin layer of gesso.  Those are Tim Holtz alpha parts for the title.

The UWS layered clouds are covered in gesso and distress paint then outlined with a black sharpie. Lots of thread and sequins in this cluster too.

The UWS swallow is covered with archival ink and has a touch of distress paint too.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!  See you soon!

S.W.A.T. sketch challenge Drill #28

It is the middle of March and you are probably thinking about St Patrick's day...well, I am not Irish and green beer just seems wrong. :)
So instead I will share some inspiration for our second challenge this month over at SWAT, Drill #28 is a sketch challenge.

Lanette created this fun sketch for this challenge and here is what I came up with...oh, I gave it one quick turn to the left...
This is a 12x12 piece of white chipboard, dictionary pages and Bo Bunny doilies build up the background under a layer of gesso.  I used a bunch of Tattered Angels glimmer mist (Dragonfly, Kiwi, Jazz Blue, Navy Blue, Atlantic, It's Orange and Thatched Roof Cottage) and kosher salt to add the color.  My favorite UmWow Studio checkerboard mask and modeling paste create the next layer.  The background paper is Authentique Classique Elegant.  Now just yesterday I picked up the brand new Julie Nutting stamp...I had to ink it up right away.  The mermaid tail is Fab Scraps Splashes.  I colored her hair my using my distress markers and my watercolor brush, I LOVE this technique!  You will also see some UWS chip seashells I painted with distress paint (white, spun sugar and mustard seed) and then coated with my new Zig Wink of Stella pen that I picked up at Cuttin' and Stampin's Facebook store.  Prima flowers, cheese cloth and the coral is cut from the Tim Holtz Tattered Pinecone die.

I had so much fun creating all that color for the background!

This is a close up of the large doily under all that color.

I cut these words with my Cameo and added a little doodling!  And then around the entire page I used Distress Ink in Walnut Stain to distress.
SO much fun making this 12x12!  I think I will frame it and give it to a special someone for their birthday that is coming up.
Thanks for stopping by and make sure you link up by the end of the month for your chance to win a fabulous prize from Paper Bakery!

2 of Us

I haven't done very many layouts this year so far so I am catching up using my March kit from Scrappy Chic.  This one is using Bazzil Basic Paper Worldwide Collection.

You have been hearing a bit about my gelli plate...I used it again on this layout with Distress Paint this time.  I really do love the control I have with the gelli plate, once you get used to opposite world while using it.  :)  I also used some punchinella from Gauche Alchemy, washi tape, rub ons, UMS star confetti mask and star confetti chip.  I needed some Thickers but didn't have a color that was right so I took what I had and covered in Archival Ink.

Then to frame my photo I used an UWS chip polaroid.  I love how it draws your eye to the picture!!

Stop back soon to see more layouts using the rest of my kit!!  We had 6 lines and I have gotten through only half so far...

Good Hair Day

Today I am sharing another layout created with my March kit from Scrappy Chic.
I used Studio Calico Wanderlust for this one.

I wanted to go for clean and simple (which is ALWAYS hard for me) on this one and let the colors dominate.  I also wanted to try watercolor lettering...  I used a water brush and Distress Paint in Spiced Marmalade.  Not too bad for my first try.  I also used a bit of MME Lime Twist Out of the Blue, sprays to splatter, punches and May Arts burlap twine.

I will be practicing my letter and I think I might like it in black a bit better...we shall see.

Winter Wonderland

Time sure does fly and it is already time for my March kit from Scrappy Chic!
I feel like I haven't done may layouts this year so I started off with one using the Stationer's Desk Collection from Prima.  The base of my layout is Stamps and Stripes.
Since it is still cold and snowy out I was drawn to this photo today because no matter how much we complain about it, snow is pretty to look at!!

Last month I made my own gelli plate with Amazing Mold Rubber, I used it on this layout with gesso and Distress Satin.  I absolutely love the control you have over these types of mediums on this plate!!
I also used some Thickers I just picked up at the store, Printshop and some Tim Holtz bits and bobs.  A VLVS! stamp, row of stars, a dictionary page, my sewing machine and some washi along with thread create the background layers.  UMS chip from the twinkle speech bubbles and flair from the vintage flag set and a Prima crystals from the Cartographer collection.

I also used some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist on the dictionary page for one last layer.
Thanks for stopping by!!  Check back soon for more of my Scrappy Chic kit, we got SIX lines to work with this month!!

UWS March Sketch Challenge

I have been talking a bit about my homemade gelli plate, made with Amazing Mold Rubber.  I am getting the hang of it and used it on my layout for the UWS March sketch challenge.  This is one of my go to challenges every month...I always love DeeDee's sketches!

I dug out a couple of older photos for this one and used up some paper from my stash!!  Authentique Smitten and MME Lucky in Love.

I put down some gesso using my gelli plate and then with my UWS Circle Confetti Mask, sticky embossing powder and Distress Glitter (which I totally spilled ALL OVER) I started layering my background.  The next layer is a couple of VLVS! stamps, dictionary page and small dots (I am not sure of the name of this one...sorry).  I also used some UWS Circle Confetti and flair for the 2 of us set.  MME washi, Distress paint in Worn Lipstick, stickles in icicle and Tim Holtz alphas.

A little doodling finishes off this quick layout of my nieces first day of kindergarten.

Make sure you link up your creation by the end of the month to win some UMS awesomeness!!!

This week over at Cuttin' and Stampin' we are creating with BUTTERFLIES .  For me butterflies mean spring even though I tend to use them all year long on every type of project.  :)
We are using Teresa Collins Daily Stories collection  and Paper Smooches Flap Happy, both of which you can find at the Cuttin' and Stampin' facebook store.
I am sharing a small spring basket I made with a cut from my Cameo.
I inked all the edges of the basket pieces before I wove it together to create some contrast, painted some chipboard butterflies (from the Teresa Collins Daily Stories collection) with distress paint in spun sugar and picket fences that were also dolled up with perfect pearls and I used my I-top to create brads with paper from the collection as well.
I also used a Tim Holtz die to cut the flowers, yep! using the Daily Stories, that I attached to the basket.
The little decorative tag and the body of the basket are both stamped using distress paint and a little butterfly from the Flap Happy Paper Smooches stamp set.

You still have a couple of days to get your project using butterflies linked up on our challenge blog.  I can't wait to see what you create!

March Inspiration from VLVS!

I always love the mood boards DeeDee comes up with over at Viva Las Vegastamps! and this one is so FUN and whimsical!!

It seems like I always am inspired to make a tag but I am alright with that!  I LOVE tags!
I was inspired by the images and the colors from the mood board.

My tag base is Simple Stories Homespun and uses FOUR VLVS! stamps; Spotted butterfly, harlequin diamond background, caterpillar and milk bottle.  They are all stamped in distress ink and archival ink and some have a little bit of distress marker color.
The chipboard daisy is from Um Wow Studios and I used gesso, distress stain and distress stickles to jazz it up.  The eyelet, twine and ribbon are all from May Arts.

I love fussy cutting and layering the stamped images.

I popped up one of the bottles and half of the caterpillar.

You have until the end of the month to share how you were inspired by the mood board, link up here.
