Berry71Bleu's April Challenge-Handmade Flowers

Over at Berry71bleu the April challenge is HANDMADE flowers.  I love making flowers so my project has 'a couple' on it...I took this frame I picked up on clearance and turned it into a clipboard frame.

The clip is Tim Holtz, the background paper is Echo Park Getaway, the flowers are made from MME paper and Tim Holtz dies and the flower centers are pearl beads.

Now the frame was a shiny silver so of course I had to distress that...alcohol ink, paste, sandpaper, acrylic paint and distress crackle paint in clear rock candy.

I inked the edges of all the flower with distress ink in walnut stain.

A bit more crafting with my April kit from Scrappy Chic...this time it's the Echo Park Getaway collection.

I am ALWAYS draw to papers with writing on them, well this was NO exception.  This is Travel Script from the collection, I also used Map.  From Um Wow Studio I used the new damask mask, documented hash tag banner and a flourish from the floral collection chip.  I also used twine, tulle and ribbon from May Arts, flowers and a brad from Prima, a new stamp from Viva Las Vegastamps!, MME enamel dots, 7 Gypsies corner flourish, button, distress paint and ink, glimmer mists and color shine, a button and floral bead.  I had some tiny little brown paper bags, I used one for a sleeve to house my journaling tag in.

Now I just have to do the actual journaling...  :)

A Flower From Nate

You may have heard me complaining a bit about not having any motivation lately...I want to get crafty so badly but I just don't WANT to.  I have been desperate to be inspired!!
Well today there was a spark and I worked some more on my April kit for Scrappy Chic!
I had some of the Kaisercraft Limelight collection to work with...

On this layout I only used the paper; vibrant, bright and first step along with the die cuts from the collection and a bit of May Arts tulle...that was it!

I have never really used so few products on a layout but with all of the layering of the die cuts I was happy with the result.

I hope to see you at the store...if we bump into each other make sure you let me know you visit my blog, I would love to meet you!!

The Boys...

I have to admit...we have had out April kits for Scrappy Chic for a couple of weeks and I just haven't been inspired to create yet, until today.  Finally the Fancy Pants Be Different line spoke to me.

I will also admit that I don't do a lot of boy projects.  But I have had this picture of Pete and Nate walking that I think is so adorable I had to pull it out for this paper!  I used Silly and Tweed for the collection.

I also used May Arts burlap twine, Prima bark stars and chip piece from UmWow Studio-numbered round tabs and arrow title mash.  he alphas are from Tim Holtz and are covered with Distress paint in antique linen.
I really wanted the picture to be the focus and I think I was able to do that with this paper.
Stop back soon for more from this collection. :)

Easter at Cuttin and Stampin

April 15-March 21
Weekly Challenge - Easter

This week we are creating for Easter over at Cuttin' and Stampin'
We are using Imaginise Welcome Spring collection and Paper Smooches Spring Fling stamp set both of which you can find at the Cuttin' and Stampin' facebook store
Today I am sharing a card I made.
The label is cut from  Paper Smooches die (also available at the Cuttin and Stampin store).  I used my Distress Markers and water brush to paint these images, did some fussy cutting and poped some pieces for dimension.  The speech bubble is from Um Wow Studio and is covered in Distress Paint and then stamped with archival ink.

The ribbon is seam binding sprayed with Color Shine.

And a little something on the inside too!

You still have a couple of days to get your Easter project linked up on our challenge blog.  I can't wait to see what you create!
I am also linking up over at Paper Smooches anything goes challenge this week!!

Our second drill for April over at SWAT is to use the word FLOWER.  Use a different item for each letter of the word.

I just picked up a few more Distress Markers so I decided I needed something to store them in properly.  Off to Lowe's I went for some PVC...of course I wanted to one that only came in a 10 foot piece so I got out my saw.
Here is what I came up with:

F-Floral Bead L-Lace Boarder O-Oynx Button W-White Leaves E-Eyelet R-Rose
The paper is Echo Park Happy Days Checkerboard, the ribbon and eyelet are May Arts, the leaves are Prima and the rose is a flower from one of the original Um Wow Studios embellishment kits.
Head over to SWAT and check out the rest of the design team's inspiration, look over the rules and make sure you get your project linked up by the end of the month for your chance to win an awesome prize from Paper Secrets.

April Showers

When I got my first glimpse at the inspiration board for Viva Las Vegastamps! this month I wasn't sure what I was going to create...I love the images and colors but had to step back and 'ponder'.

Today I decided to just sit down and GO...and here is what I came up with.

It has been raining a bit here and even snowed last night, YIKES, so April Showers seemed very appropriate.  The VLVS! images are sunflowers and girl with umbrella facing away.
My tag base is MME On the Bright Side and the umbrella is cut from Echo Park For the Record.  From UmWow Studio; layered clouds, circle confetti mask, alphas one and flair from the dream a little dream set.  I cut the tag with a Tim Holtz die.  Distress ink stormy sky with a Prima raindrop mask, Heidi Swap color shine, May Arts leaves ribbon black, Archival ink, floral bead and thread.

The layered clouds are covered in gesso, ink and outlined with my trusty sharpie.

These chipboard alphas...OMG!  LOVE. THEM!

You have until the end of the month to link up your creation!!  I can't wait to see it!!

in the pale MOONLIGHT

Every once in a while I do a project that really draws me in, sometimes I don't even know why but there is a strong connection.  I did a tag just for fun and I wanted the focus to be a piece of flair from the moon shine flair set at Um Wow Studio.  The moon face piece is my ALL time favorite piece of flair EVER!  This tag was a total stress reliever project and maybe that is why I love it so much...

The tag base is made from some scrap pieces of MME Indie Chic Nutmeg Boy and Authentique Seasons: Summer Two papers, sewn together with my handy sewing machine.  And of course what goes PERFECTLY with my moon face flair??  Well stars of course!  Layered stars, star confetti and star confetti mask also from Um Wow Studios.  Oh and there is also a layered cloud!!  The stamp is, of course, Viva Las Vegastamps!

I used gesso, Distress paint antique linen and picket fence, Tattered Angel glimmer mists Jazz and a sharpie to alter the chip pieces.  And of course that is May Arts chevron ribbon and black thread pulling it all together.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!  I am off to create more starry skies...

A Tisket a Tasket...a Lovely Easter Basket

I am super lucky to have been selected to participate in the latest May Arts challenge...a retro color themed craft challenge.

The ribbon lady always picks the most awesome ribbons to choose from.

retro inspired ribbon

For this challenge I made a basket out of chicken wire and some raffia covered wire.

Photo: Working on a new project... made this basket tonight. You'll see the rest sooooon!!

Then I made a eyelet liner trimmed in three of the ribbons I selected.

The eggs are burlap cover and wrapped in scraps of these lovely ribbons.
Thanks for stopping by and make sure you pop over to the May Arts blog to vote for your favorite and be entered to win some ribbon too.

This week we are creating with paper quilting over at Cuttin' and Stampin'.  I am sharing a layout I did with some FUN pictures of my nieces. :)
We are using Studio Calico Lemon Lush collection which you can find at the Cuttin' and Stampin' facebook store
I did a lot of background layering with paper, gesso, distress paint and mists.  The paper was cut into squares and sewn on to the base with my sewing machine.  I painted gesso to mute the colors slightly and applied paint with a mask.

Here is the finished layout.
I struggled with how to embellish my layout for a while and then it hit me...ROSETTES!!

The rosette centers are UmWow Studio chip, layered hearts, that I covered in gesso and distress paint.  I doodled on them when they were dry.  I love this technique for altering this chip!!

I added plenty of mist splatters after I had everything adhered.  I love how it pulls all of the colors together.

You still have a couple of days to get your project with some kind of paper quilting linked up on our challenge blog.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Time is sure flying by, can you believe it is already April??  Well, it is and we have our first drill over at SWAT.  Drill #29 challenges you with a scrappy bingo card.
I have been it a tiny creative slump for a couple of weeks and turned to Pinterest for some inspiration for the card I created for this drill.  You can see the original here.

I used the second vertical row on the bingo card; stars, stamp, 4 manufacturers, molding paste and mist.
Stars:  Echo Park paper and UmWow Studio layered star chip
4 Manufacturers:  Echo Park, MME, Tattered Angels, May Arts VLVS!, a couple more than 4, I have been told I am an over achiever
Molding Paste:  gold crackle
Mist:  Tattered Angels glimmer mist

April Sketch Challenge-Um Wow Studio

The sketch challenge for April is up over at Um Wow Studio!!!  Of course it is a good one...

I love the big picture space!  I have not ever done a layout with this size photo but I knew exactly the picture I wanted to use!!

MME always does the BEST polka dots!!!  I used my UWS layered butterflies, butterfly confettibutterfly swarm mask and flair from the black and blue set.  The fat roll washi is new from Hazel and Ruby and I love how wide it is!!!  Prima flower, May Arts eyelet, vintage buttons, floral beads, distress ink, Tattered Angels mist, thread and modeling paste.  The words are Heidi Swapp.

Naked chip is PERFECT with a black and white photo!!!

And I love layering on TOP of my flair!!

I look forward to seeing how you use your UWS products for this challenge!  You have until the end of the month to get linked up...
