Little Monsters

May 27-June 2
Weekly Challenge - Little Monsters

This week we are all about Little Monsters over at Cuttin' and Stampin'
We are using  Fancy Pants Be Different collection and Paper Smooches Space Cadet stamp set both of which you can find at the Cuttin' and Stampin' facebook store
Today I am sharing a get well card for the next time a Little Monster I know is not feeling well.

My card is 5-1/4" x 5-1/4", I cut some different size circles and layered them up.  The scalloped circled is popped up for some dimension.  On the center circle I used the UmWow Studio star confetti mask with clear embossing powder to create the resist when I painted with Distress paint.

All the stamped images from the Space Cadet set are on watercolor paper and water colored with Distress markers.  I fussy cut them and adhered, again some are popped up for dimension.  I added some UmWow Studio star confetti covered in a layer of stickles for a little fun sparkle.

You still have a couple of days to get your Little Monster project linked up on our challenge blog.
I can't wait to see what you create!

Magnetic Clipboard

Three down, two to go...I am working some more on my May kit for Scrappy Chic.  This project is with Prima Seashore collection!  This is a decorative metal panel I re-purposed into a magnetic memo clipboard that hangs on the wall.

From the Prima collection I used Sea Shell and Under the Sea.  I also used the brand new Bigz die by Tim Holtz, Sea and Sand.  I LOVE this die!!!  The seaweed is done with the Tattered Pinecones die.  I also used Itop magnet daddies, May Arts gold metallic ribbon, Distress paint, Tim Holtz spritzer, Distress markers, Distress ink, Distress crackle paint, TIm Holtz clip and Mod podge.

Look what the crackle paint does on the seahorse and the texture the sprizter gives the sand dollar.

I used a couple of layers of paint to color the star fish just right.

Thanks for stopping by!!!  I will be back soon with more from my May kit!!

May Arts Ribbon Design Team Call

If you are a regular visitor here you know I LOVE May Arts ribbon!!!  So when I saw the Ribbon Ladies post about a call for prima ribbonista, well you know what's next...

design team call

So grab a cup of coffee and have a seat...First I am going to share a brand new project and then a couple of other recent projects all using May Arts ribbon.

My newest ribbony project is this banner.

I started with canvas that I cut into these banners shapes.

I wanted to add color and texture to the canvas so I grabbed a Prima stencil and some mist.

I knew I wanted to use my May Arts eyelet but the white was a bit bright.

So I sprayed it with a Tattered Angels mist in sand.

While those where all drying I grabbed my wood letters...

and painted on a heavy layer of Distress paint in broken china, dried with my heat gun and coated with Distress crackle paint in clear rock candy.

I did some sewing and gluing and cutting of paper to assemble my banner.  Here is one of the flags up close.

May Arts ribbon used:
3 inch metallic gold ribbon
1 inch eyelet trim
3/4 inch twill/chevron stripes ribbon
Burlap string

And here are some other projects:

This post is round one of the call.  I hope you will be seeing a round 2 post in the near future!!
Wish me luck!!

This week we are creating for Graduations over at Cuttin' and Stampin'.

We are using  Doodlebug's The Graduate collection and Paper Smooches Seeing Stars stamp set both of which you can find at the Cuttin' and Stampin' facebook store
Today I am sharing a card to have on hand for the next graduation celebration I have the honor of attending..

I cut banners from the paper and used the owl sticker on my finished banner.  The black stars are stamped in archival ink using the PS stamps.  The gems anchoring the banner are also doodlebug.

I used the UmWow Studio star confetti mask with gold Viva crackle paint, star confetti chip pieces with Viva inka gold in silver, and a speech bubble from the twinkle speech bubbles with Viva inka gold in gold.  I used some of my jewelry making supplies to emboss the word dream in the speech bubble.

On the inside I used a sentiment and some stars from the PS stamps too.

You still have a couple of days to get your Graduation project linked up on our challenge blog.
I can't wait to see what you create!

Moving right along with my May kit from Scrappy Chic.  This time with Teresa Collins Urban Market collection.

I used Subway, Cards and Alpha from the collection.  The frame is Heidi Swapp and the stencils are Hazel and Ruby Chalk Art Alphas that I just picked up TODAY, I had to break those beauties out and get them covered with paint!  I used May Arts paper string for the stamen in the large flower (as shown my my friend DeeDee just the other day), burlap twine in the button flower centers and white ribbon for the hanger.

I used Tim Holtz Tattered Florals and Elegant Flourishes to cut the flowers and the flourishes.  The white frame is painted with Distress paint and black acrylic paint on the stencils.

Wouldn't it be a lovely wedding shower gift??  Hmmmm, do I know anyone getting married??  :)

Make Pretty Stuff

While I was at CHA in January with Chris from Scrappy Chic I got to spend a few minutes with Heidi Swap at her booth.  I have had these pictures since then and when I got Heidi's Dreamy collection in my Scrappy Chic kit this month it all came together.

For this layout I used a few pieces of the collection: Dreamy Dots, Seeing Stripes and Ticket to Ride.  I also used the Heid Swapp mini stencils, mistable alpha stickers and of course the word 'pretty' hanging from the line.  Prima flowers, May Arts twine, UmWow Studios speech bubble and heart confetti chip, Dylusions mist, Tim Holtz mirrored star, Studio Calico mini clothes pins, Distress glitter, Distress paint and sequins.

I inked up the mistable alphas with Distress ink and then applied a layer of white Dylusions mist.

Wasn't Heidi's booth PRETTY!??!!

Handmade Flowers

It is time for our second drill of the month, number 32, over at SWAT.  On your project you must include at least one HANDMADE flower.
I love making flowers so my project has 'a couple' on it...I took a frame I picked up on clearance and turned it into a clipboard frame.

The clip is Tim Holtz, the background paper is Echo Park Getaway, the flowers are made from MME paper and Tim Holtz dies and the flower centers are pearl beads.

Now the frame was a shiny sliver so of course I had to distress that...alcohol ink, paste, sandpaper, acrylic paint and distress crackle paint in clear rock candy.

I inked the edges of all the flower with distress ink in walnut stain.
I am so looking forward to seeing your handmade flowers!!!  You have until the end of the month to link up and of course there will be a prize up for grabs...

Cards That Didn't Make the Cut...

Last month I threw my hat in the ring over at Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking magazine for the first time, and while I didn't get selected I love the cards I made...and of course I will certainly try again!!

The first card was made for a challenge to use GOLD!

Quickkutz die, Viva crackle paint, glue dots and gold embossing powder, May Arts twine, VLVS! sentiment, Bazzill paper.

The second card followed a sketch, unfortunately I don't have the sketch to share but here is the card. :)

Bella Blvd and Bazzill paper, Viva inks gold in green, UmWow Studio star confetti and celebrate hash tag banners.

Yep!  I will definitely try again!!

Mother's Day!!

April 29-May 5
Weekly Challenge - Mother's Day Without Flowers

This week we are creating for the celebration of MOM's over at Cuttin' and Stampin'
We are using the Bo Bunny Modern Miss collection and Paper Smooches Scripty Sayings stamp set both of which you can find at the Cuttin' and Stampin' facebook store
Today I am sharing a card I made for my own mom, shhhh, don't tell her.

I used the celebrate stamp in the Scripty Sayings set with white zing embossing powder to create my background and then splattered blue, red and yellow glimmer lists, I love SPLATTERS!!  The frame is cut with a Tim Holtz die using paper from the Bo Bunny collection.  The crown and silhouette are also TH dies but they are cut from black chip board.
The crown is coated with gold crackle paint and the 'gems' are red Perfect Pearls.
The banner and letters are Studio Calico wood pieces painted with Distress paint.

I just love the shimmery colors of the mist, splatters are so FUN!

You still have a couple of days to get your Mother's Day project linked up on the Cuttin and Stampin  challenge blog.   But don't forget no flowers on this one!! I can't wait to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping by!!

May Inspiration from VLVS!

My good friends over at Viva Las Vegastamps! always have a great inspiration board every month for a challenge!

As soon as I saw the elephant I knew of a picture I had to use!  This will be the second page in my tag mini.
I was inspired, of course by the elephant, but also the colors and the checkerboard background.

Other items:  Tattered Angels glimmer list, Distress Ink-Mustard Seed and Black Soot, Archival ink, paste, button, twine, thread.

And of course pictures of my favorite elephant in a purple tutu!!

You have until the end of the month to play along, here is the link!!   Can't wait to see what you come up with!!

SWAT Color Challenge

Spring is FINALLY here!!  Drill #31 over at SWAT is a color challenge, and these colors say spring to me!!

The other day I had an idea to do a mini TAG album.  When I saw these colors I immediately thought of some fun photo booth picture I did with my nieces so that is my first TAG page for my mini.

I stamped the harlequin diamond background, from VLVS!, in archival ink and then used gel medium to add a layer of white tissue for texture and a layer of gesso.  I picked three distress inks to match the colors in the challenge a got to inking.  Then I used black soot on the edges of the tag.

Next I splattered mists in the three colors, yes I LOVE splatters!  The fun hat is chipboard from the photo booth props set at UmWow Studio.  It is painted with distress paint and outlined with a white pen.

This is the banner mash from UWS also painted with distress paint and attached with tiny black brads.  The twine is from my stash.   The tag is finished off with a bit of doodling.

Make sure you link up your color challenge project by the end of the month for your chance to win.
