Feed Your Soul

I was on vacation last week and obviously didn't get to get inky while I was away.  So just hour after I got home I got busy with paper, 7 Dots Studio's Nature Walk Collection-Cotton (designed by my super talented friend DeeDee), stencils and acrylic paint.  I cut some tags with my Tim Holtz die and spread some paint over 3 different Um Wow Studio stencils; damask, harlequin and moroccan tile.

Today I grabbed the tag with the damask pattern, a new VLVS! stamp (girl in the princess costume), the small UWS doily and started working.

Before I glued things down I did some watercolor accents on the tag and colored the stamped image before I fussy cut it.  I had a bit of moss, the flowers are Prima and the UWS sparrow (from the floral collection) was the perfect touch.  The other bits are Prima also.  The sentiment if from the Nature Walk collection.

I just adore that stamp almost as much as I adore this paper collection!

The ribbon finishing off the tag is May Arts.

Then I saw the new challenge over at Scrapki-wyzwaniowo...imagine.  I just feel like this little girl is imagining all the possibilities of her life so I am entering the September challenge :) .

This was a just for fun project and it was a bunch of fun!!!

Um Wow Studios August Sketch Challenge

OMG...I cannot believe it is already the end of August!!!  Where did the summer go??!

The Um Wow Studio sketch challenge for this month really challenged me which surprised me because when I first saw it I was raring to get busy creating.

Here is what I ended up with...

I used some of my precious Nature Walk designed by DeeDee Catron for 7 Dots Studio.  This is both sides of Cotton.  From UWS I used the damask mask, a heart from the heart confetti, flair from the wild west set, flourishes 2 and floral collection.  Other things used:  May Arts faux suede leaves and burlap string, VLVS! coffee ring stain stamp, Mister Huey mist, Tattered Angels mist, Art Anthology Velvet texture paint, Tim Holtz alphas, button, drywall tape, gesso, distress ink and thread.

This blue is the perfect pop of color!

Did the sketch inspire you??  You have until the end of the month to get a project linked up.
Thanks for stopping by!!

Halloween Already??!?!

My July kit for Scrappy Chic had some of my favorites in it like Graphic 45!!  An Eerie Tale is a perfect way to get started on my Halloween cards!
I created three cards using Enchantment, Unsolved Mystery and Run and Hide from the collection.

This one is a shaker card.  Tim Holtz dies, May Arts ribbon, Studio Calico sequins, Tim Holtz sentiment stamp and seed beads.

More Tim Holtz dies on this one.  Also Tim Holtz numbers, distress markers and ink.  The stamp is Viva Las Vegastamps! Jack-o'lanterns along fence.

Besides the G45 paper on this one everything else is Tim Holtz.  Dies, paint, stamps ink.  Oh but the cloth wire is Prima stained with distress stain.

Do you make bunches of Halloween cards too??  I wanna see them!!

Silly Harper

Kaisercraft papers always have such great texture and the Be-YOU-tiful Collection is no exception.  I had some in my July kit for Scrappy Chic and crated this fun layout.

This is Glamorous and Sweet covered in clear and white gesso and splatter with paint.  You can see some Tattered Angels glimmer mist dripping down from the background too.  Drywall tape, thread, Prina bark stars and flowers, May Arts ribbon and a die cut with a Tim Holtz die.
My aunt found an awesome typewriter for $5.00 AND it it types in a script font.  I used it for the journaling, you'll be seeing more of this!!

I just love paint splatters!!

There are some vintage clock hands hiding in all those layers!!

That's it for the July on to the August goodness!!

Um Wow Studio Guest Gig

I am SUPER honored to be a guest creator over at UmWow Studios this month.  I am a HUGE fan of their products and absolutely LOVE creating with them.
I had an idea to create a picture frame with an old book and have been holding on to a special photo to do something special with, I finally put 2+2 together and got busy.

I used my trusty Exacto knife to cut an opening in the cover of my vintage WWII book, then cut some pages to create a mat for the photo.  I slid the photo in, taped it down with some washi tape and then used miracle tape from VLVS! to adhere the front and back cover down.  I used Mod Podge to seal up the pages all around so the book is permanently shut.

Aren't those DIY printers blocks perfect!

I love mixing the vintage bits in!!

Items used:
UmWow Studio- banner mash, gear mash, DIY printers blocks, checkerboard mask, harlequin mask, ATC frame-movie and flair for the love notes set.
Prima- flower, brad and pebble
May Arts-burlap string, 1.5 inch grosgrain and 1/2 inch woven burlap
Vintage bits- gears, clock hand, scrabble letter and film negative
Tim Holtz- film strip, light bulb, archival ink and distress ink
Misc- inka gold, metal pull (from my good friend DeeDee) and metal flourish

Pop over to the UWS blog and leave me some love...while you are there check out the unbelievable talent of the creative team and the current sketch challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!!

SWAT Drill #37 - Watermelon Crawl

Our first drill for August over at SWAT is based on a song, Watermelon Crawl.

You can take your inspiration from any part of the song or the title, etc.  I went with the watermelon, of course, and I thought the song was about celebrating.

I did my very first free hand watercolor, not too shabby...
I used MME Miss Caroline and Fancy Pants Summer Soul paper for my card base.  The watermelon seeds are tiny chipboard raindrops for the new rainy day confetti over at UWS.  May Arts chevron twill, VLVS! sentiment (celebrate) and UWS hummingbird chip.  I used Distress Ink-Walnut Stain on the paper edges.

Don't those tiny drops make perfect seeds??!

If you are inspired to create by this song make sure you get linked up by the end of the month for you chance to win a scrappy prize!  Can't wait to see what you create!!

August Inspiration - VLVS!

As you know I love using Viva Las VegaStamps!  And every month DeeDee has an awesome inspiration board up to challenge us.  This months is so bright, I loved using these colors.

Today I was experimenting with vellum and modeling paste on some mixed media paper and before I knew it I had my entry for the challenge.

I used Tattered Angels glimmer mist, Heidi Swapp color shine, Distress paint and Distress ink to add the color.  This birds on a wire stamp is one of the very first I ordered from VLVS! and the sentiment, adventure awaits, is from my last order.  The cloud are UmWow Studio layered clouds and the sequins are Studio Calico.

I just love that cloud outline!

Oh and I used the UWS checkerboard mask with modeling paste just at the bottom of the page.

Have some fun with color and get you entry linked up for a chance to win some awesome pink rubbah!!

Rainbow Inspired Craft Challenge

I am always so excited to be picked to participate in the May Arts Craft Challenges!!  The rainbow inspiration is so fun!!

Look at those beauties we had to pick from to create with!  Such great color!
I created a summer topiary using a AWESOME vintage spool I found at a local antique shop.

The ribbons I used are listed below with links...I used floral pins to attach the flowers to a Styrofoam ball.  A wood dowel covered in chevron twill attaches the ball to the spool.

I used the wire from the ribbon to attach the butterflies making them look like they are fluttering around the flowers.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  You can head over the the May Arts blog and see all the other beautiful entries.  Make sure you vote for your favorite for a chance to win ribbon of your very own.
