Winter Traditions

Lately, I have been creating lots of shaker cards.  They are fun and the ideas keep swimming around in my head.  This one is winter themed and I am hoping to teach a class at Scrappy Chic the beginning of November...  :)

The paper is Authentique Cozy on a Bazzil card base.  I cut the snowflake with my Cameo.  Tim Holtz Carolers and Tag and Bookplate dies, chit chat words, skate charm, Distress ink Gathered Twigs, Martha Stewart snowflake punch, May Arts burlap string, Studio Calico and Pretty Pink Posh sequins and Prima glass glitter are all used too,

I tossed in some seed beads to help move around the sequins.

I am addicted to these book plates!!

If you are interested in the class watch the calendar at Scrappy Chic to see when it will be scheduled.

Art Journaling

I want to make an art journal by binding pages myself and using a vintage book cover but I just can't decide how I want to bind the pages...SO until I figure that out I thought I would start some pages, you know, work from the inside out.

DeeDee Catron posted a fantastic technique using watercolor pencils and a stencil, you can see it here.  I just love it and have been practicing....

When I started this spread I had a totally different idea in mind.  Isn't it funny how once you start putting your idea on paper it can make a complete 180??!?

I started with mixed media paper and added some gesso.  I also used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Distress stain and markers, Faber Castell Aquarelle pencils, Prima stencil, mat gel, VLVS! whimsical diver and adventure awaits, Um Wow Studio layered circles, sequins and floral beads.

Cool right??  I am happy with how it worked out and I love the brightness of the blue!!
This journal spread is also going to be my entry over at Words & Paintery.  The October challenge, their first (!), is up and the new creative teams is sharing some AWESOME inspiration!!  Please make sure you check it out!!

The October inspiration board at Viva Las VegaStamps! is very Halloweenie and I was inspired to create a card.

Also used:  Distress markers, archival ink, gelato, gesso, Distress ink and all paper is from the scrap bin.

Sugar Skull

Over at SWAT we have out first drill up for October, it's #41.  The challenge is to create from a mood board OR some kind of sugar skull.  I choose the sugar skull because I have never really thought about them in my crafting and I  LOVE skulls.

Glen Haven

I have been experimenting a bit with my layouts and with the MME Jubilee I had in my Scrappy Chic kit I tried something so fun using my Cameo.

I loved the big bold stripes in this collection and had a vision that was all clouds.  I did have to tone if down just a bit with some gesso and then splashed some Tattered Angels glimmer mist.  The chipboard is Um Wow Studio, Heidi Swapp banners mixed in with some scraps of MME and Studio Calico mini clothes pins.

I did a bit of doodling around the clouds and journalled a tiny  bit around the edges.

Um Wow Studio is having an ANYTHING goes challenge this month.  You can link up as many times as you want...this will be number one!  :)

Autumn Pumpkin

We are already into the autumn season, can you believe it??!  I have started some home decor with my September kit from Scrappy Chic.

I was inspired by the Berry71bleu October challenge which is a mood board.

Don't you just love autumn colors?!!

I created this pumpkin to decorate my table.

The flowers are made from Kaisercraft Basecoat Christmas and the Tattered Floral Tim Holtz die.  May Arts silk ribbon, Zva Creative crystals and some acorns and garland from my stash.

I used Distress Ink on the edges of the flowers and some floral stamen.

I hope to see you autumn creating linked up, you have until the end of the month!!
