Art Journal Swappin'

I love a good swap!!  A bunch of artsy ladies and I are swapping journals over the summer and since there are 10 of us probably into the fall too. Each journal has a theme and gets sent round robin style to all the members.
My journal is made from an old book that I removed all the pages from.  I used pages of an old atlas to create new pages, just enough for this swap.  I started with the first spread and made enough pages so I could be the last one too.

I coated the cover with gesso so I could prepare it to show what my theme would be.

I used a couple of the pages from the inside of the book on the cover.  Misted it, used one of my favorite UmWow Studio masks (checkerboard) and a Viva Las Vegastamps! image (large bird flying) pulling a page back to show the theme, reveal yourself.  I used May Arts burlap string to bind the map pages.

I can't wait to see everyone's interpretation of my theme.

My first pages...

Lots of UWS (wood grain mask, butterfly, butterfly swarm mask, snail) and VLVS! (butterfly spotted) and chicken wire). May Arts ribbon, Prima flowers, 7 Dots Studio Nature Walk stamp and Tattered Angels mists.

Journals are postal and have already started arriving to their first destination.  Keep an eye out for updates on the blog showing pages from each journal I receive.

Maddie is 4!!

My goddaughter Maddie turned 4 on Friday but with busy schedules and summer travel we won't get to celebrate until next Wednesday...  I was happy to have a little bit of extra time to search for just the right gift and make a fun card.

I used Tim Holtz birthday blueprint stamps and hashtag sentiments along with Distress markers to watercolor the images that are layered up and sprayed with the spritzer.  Kaisercraft flowers, sequins, tickets and May Arts ribbon add some awesome texture.

I used EchoPark papers layer for the card base.  I even stamped a party hat on the inside too.  :)

I hope she likes it...

Word Bubbles!

Over at Cuttin' and Stampin' this week word bubbles are what it's all about .

We are using  Basic Gray Capture collection and Jillibean Soup Word Bubble stamp set both of which you can find at the Cuttin' and Stampin' facebook store
Today I am sharing three, yes three cards today...I just couldn't stop. :)

All three use white Bazzill Basic cardstock and word bubbles stamped in archival ink and heat embossed with high-gloss embossing powder from Viva Las Vegastamps.

This card has a layer of the Basic Gray Capture which brings out the bright colors in all of the Color Shine mist used to splatter.  Finished off with some various sequins.

Sequins and shimmery splatters sure do make me smile!!

This card has a layer of the Basic Gray Capture and the same paper was used to cut some stars, Tattered Angels Glimmer mist, UmWow Studios star confetti covered in stickles.

These speech bubbles are perfect heat embossed!

And this last card has a background of hexagons colored with watercolor pencils, I used the UmWow Studios hexagon mask to do this.  The base is MME and the twine is Jillibean Soup.

Fun subtle color right?!!

You still have a couple of days to get your Word Bubble project linked up on our challenge blog.
I can't wait to see what you create!

Viva Las Vegastamps! Tag Swap

I absolutely love the swaps over at Viva Las Vegastamps!  The latest is a tag swap...and the theme: SUN: Let's welcome in a little Spring and or Summer, eh? The theme for our tags will be Sunshine, rays, yellow, golden, flowers, Spring, Summer, sunbathing, celestial... you do whatever fits in!
We made 5 tags for this swap, 1 stays on display at VLVS! and we get 4 works of art back.

I used moon circle, through the looking glass and fairy images from VLVS.  I also used the light bulb mask from UWS for the rays.

My tag base is Heidi Swapp paper with a layer of sheet music covered with a thin layer of gesso.  The grass is MME paper cut with a Tim Holtz die.
I stamped the images in archival ink and used distress ink on the edges if the tag.

I used distress paint, crackle paste and my trusty pen in the mask to create the sun rays.  The ribbon is May Arts and the brad is MME.  You can't really see in the pictures but I painted a thin layer of stickles on the fairy wings for a little sparkle!!
I am really looking forward to the tags I get back...You will be able to see them all on the VLVS! blog once they are all received.

Insta Moments

I had the Kaisercraft Honey Chai Collection in my May kit for Scrappy Chic and today, June 1st I wrapped up this layout, one of my last projects for May.

You may have noticed I love Instagram photos...something about those 2x2 squares that appeal to me!  I use them on a lot of my layouts and this is one of them.

These papers together reminded me of paneling and wallpaper!  I wanted that feeling to shine through so I embellished with some small things from MM, Fancy Pants, Prima and some pretty crocheted flowers from my friend Sharon!  The 'insta moments' is Color Wash from Pink Paislee.

I love the simplicity of this layout!
