Smile!

The Authentique in my July kit for Scrappy Chic is awesome.  It is the Classique:  Pretty collection and I just loved using it.

These two papers are Neat and Cursive, perfect for layering!  I used my gelli plte, gesso and some punchinella to create the background.  Then an Um Wow Studio mask (circle confetti) with mist for another layer then paint splatters and some modeling paste in the butterfly swarm mask. There is a bit of the damaged punchinella chip (also UWS), some of the new banner ribbon from May Arts, a Kaisercraft flower, Heidi Swapp 'smile' embellishment and a couple of Viva Las VegaStamps (butterfly specimen and waybill/invoice background).

Isn't that background pattern great!!

I doodled a couple of hearts on the date...one for each of those pretty smiles!!

Good Times Mini

Summer is whizzing by and I have been working on my July kit for Scrappy Chic!  I had some FABULOUS Fancy Pants Burlap and Bouquets to work with.
Quite some time ago I cut some shapes at the store with the Accucut dies and the time finally came to use one...the file folder was a perfect cover for the mini album I wanted to make.

I used Chic Burlap, Variety and Corsage along with the library cards for my mini.  I also used some DIY envelopes.  I cut my flowers with Tim Holtz Tattered Floral dies and made the centers with Prima flowers and Lush and Basic Grey brads.  All the ribbon accents are May Arts ribbon and burlap string.

I titled the mini with a Maggie Holmes for Crate paper sticker.

I used some binder rings to hold all the pages in.

Thanks for stopping by!!!  See you around the store!

Dream

I really cannot believe we have come to the end of July almost!  My how time flies...
This months inspiration board over at Viva Las VegaStamps! is another fun one and I was inspired right away.

I created a card that was inspired by the color combination, the flowers and mushrooms and the speech bubble.
I started with some scrap pieces of my cherished Nature Walk and got stamping.

VLVS! images used:  sunflowers, snail, tall mushroom and girl with wings.
I stamped everything in archival ink and used Distress markers and my watercolor pen to add a bit of color. The speech bubble is Um Wow Studio, from the everyday speech bubbles.

I added a bit of sparkle with some stickles on the wings and used Distress ink on the edges of the lovely Nature Walk paper.

You have until the end of the month to enter for you chance to win some awesome pink rubbah!

Drill #36 Mood Board

Summer is in full swing and we are half way through the year, can you believe how time flies?!!  Our second drill, #36 over at SWAT is a mood board to inspire you to create.

I was inspired by the colors red, white and blue and the stars.  I created a couple of cards with shakers. Now this is my first attempt at shakers and I must say, it was much easier than I thought it would be.

My card bases are Authentique Abroad and Basic Grey Aspen Frost.  The shaker stars were cut on my Cameo and the paper is Bazzill.  The sentiment stamps, make a wish and be true, are Viva Las Vegastamps! stamped in archival ink.  I splashed a bit of some homemade blue mist around the sentiments.

I filled the shakers with sequins and UmWow Studio star confetti that I covered in a couple different colors of inka gold.

These shakers were super fun and I especially liked filling them with a variety of things!!  I have a couple of ideas brewing for a couple more, I'll share when they come to fruition.

May Arts DT Call Round 2

I am so excited to have made it to round 2 of the May Arts blog design team call.  I want to be a Prima Ribbonista!!

design team call

For my submission I created some kid sized t-shirts with woven ribbon shapes.  I chose a heart, a moon and a cloud with rainbow.
Here is how I did it:

I started with t-shirts, May Arts 1/2" solid wrinkled ribbon, scissors and fabric marking pencils.

Turn the t-shirt inside out and draw (or trace) your shape.

Now I am not much for exact measurements when I create so I just eye balled the spacing of my cuts.  You need to cut 2 slits close together smaller than your ribbon, spacing them along your drawing.

Turn the shirt right side out and lay flat.  Where the ribbon starts and stops you will tie a bow so decide where you want the bow to be before you begin.  Weave the ribbon under the small space between the slits you cut. (If you are having trouble getting the ribbon through use a tapestry or embroidery needle.)

Continue all the way around.  I adjusted the ribbon to be as flat as I could while I worked.

Tie your bow and trim the ends.

Here are the three shapes I choose for this set of t-shirts.

I am so excited to see these on my favorite littles!! AND I had so much fun weaving in the fantastic May Arts ribbon, those colors are so BRIGHT!!
Here is a link to the wrinkled ribbon I used:

Chunky ATC Swap

If you have been hanging around for a while you know that I am a HUGE fan of Viva Las VegaStamps!  They have LOTS of awesome red rubber stamps and a fantastic community where there are always swaps going on.  This one was a chunky ATC swap.  Now I have never made a 'chunky' ATC...I have made plenty of regular ATC's so I had to do a bit of research.
Lot's of these type ATC's are made on a block of wood.  I had a fun idea to use the book pages I just removed from an old book to create a journal for another swap I am working on.

I cut the book pages at the binding down to the size of an ATC, 2-1/2 x 31/2 inches.  It is attached in a chip board cover that is covered in 7 Dots Studios Nature Walk.
I used 41 stamps on this ATC.  Where are they you ask??  Well this is a mini version of an art journal so they are mostly inside on the pages.
There are 15 spreads and I didn't want this post to be picture heavy so I made a collage of all the pages.

I also used May Arts ribbon, UmWow Studio chip, Color Shine, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Distress ink, Distress Markers, watercolor pen, Archival ink, Prima bark flower and raindrop mask, Tiny attacher, Stickles.
Stamps used:  dictionary page, businessman silhouette, not all who wander, chevron banner, bird in flight, stars, boy in cape, whimsical cloud, triangle banner, whimsical cloud, toy airplane, party hat, road trip, teeny tiny on bike, you are here, geo tag small, geo tag large, whimsical diver, tag, caterpillar, bottle with top, blowing dandelion with extra seed, make a wish, fly, tape measure, butterfly spotted wing/small, man and woman symbol, striped border arrow, {with love}sm;)e, girl with umbrella, in the pale moonlight, moon circle, snail, fairy, whimsical candy, whimsical round lollipop, admit one ticket, coffee ring stain, Victorian ornamental flourish, pure imagination

And some close ups of a couple of my favorite pages.

I am so excited about how this worked out so I think I will have to make another for myself to keep.  :)

Summer Cards

This wraps up the Scrappy Chic June kit...Authentique Accomplished along with Tim Holtz Nautical Blueprint stamps and Sea and Sand die.

I used my Distress markers and watercolor pen on watercolor paper for the stamps.  Lots of Distress paint, Distress ink and Distress Crackle paint too.  I used the Spritzer, hashtag stamps and Industrious stickers.  The coral is made using the Tattered Pine Cone die.  I also used a bit of cheese cloth and May Arts Burlap twine.

I just adore these stamps and dies!!

Winged Things

Those of you who know me are probably aware that I am petrified of birds but it seems that in my projects and photos they make a number of appearances...
I had Kaisercraft Mister Fox in my June kit for Scrappy Chic and I loved the green for a picture I took of a cardinal outside my office window this winter.

This layout is pretty simple but I just love the layers.  UWS wood grain mask with gesso, Tim Holtz tissue tape, Tattered Angels Glimmer mist-kraft, UWS distressed harlequin, May Arts tulle, A bit of a playing card, Twinery twine,  Tim Holtz tiny attacher, 7 Dots Nature Walk word sticker, Authentique number stickers and Prima resin frame.

I think this might be one of my favorite layouts of the year!!

Drill #35 over at SWAT is Christmas in July.  You have to use a Christmas paper on a non-Christmas project.  Oh and make sure to mention the name of the collection.
I used Fancy Pants Merry Little Christmas for this layout.

Other:  Archival ink, Tattered Angels mists, sequins and vintage buttons

I ADORE that itty bitty little chip tag!!
There is plenty of time to get you Christmas in July project linked up, you have until the end of the month.

Art Journal Swappin' Update 1

I already received my first journal to work in!!!  It had a mood board with purple, gold and turquoise...butterflies, peacock feathers and sequins.  It was about dreams.

Tattered Angels and Color Shine mist create the backgound along with my favorite UWS star confetti mask and gold crackle paint.  I also used lots of gesso!! The UWS layered stars are covered in gold crackle paint and outlined with my trusty sharpie.  The large butterfly is stamped in archival ink several times is VLVS! butterfly spotted stamp.

I just love all of the dripping!!

VLVS! butterfly specimen stamp fussy cut after I watercolored is with my Lyra watercolor crayons.  I adhered them on top of layers of drywall tape, gesso and May Arts ribbon.

I wrote with thick acrylic paint and after it dried I doodled around a word and smeared gesso on the rest.

This journal will be off to it's next destination in a couple of weeks and I will be receiving one to take its place at about the same time...  Check back soon to see what that theme will be!!
