I have been rolling around an idea for string art for a while and round 2 for the May Arts design team call was the perfect project to bring it all together.
Sometimes in meetings I doodle these little architectural people so I blew a pair up on the copy machine and had my brother cut them out of wood for me.
Then I had to get the wood figures a background that would work with the string art.
I painted them both with white heavy body acrylic paint.
Next I stamped both shapes with a Viva Las VegaStamps! background stamp, dictionary page in archival ink.
I used my Faber Castel big brush pen in black to outline both shapes.
I sanded the edges so the outline wasn't so bold.
Next I pounded small flathead nails in the shapes I wanted to create with string, his heart and her skirt.
I used May Arts
burlap string in red for his heart. I started at the bottom point and just started wrapping the string around the nails. Then I wrapped a boarder around, tied a knot, trimmed the string and but a dab of glue just in case.
I did the same with her skirt using the May Arts
burlap string in pink.
I am so happy with how these turned out and how easy it was with this burlap string!
Aren't they CUTE!!
The bow of her skirt is May Arts
1-1/4" silk ribbon in violet.
Isn't is great how the background shows through the string?!!!
Thanks for coming by, I hope you liked my project and wish me luck!!
