He & She - Round 2 for May Arts Prima Ribbonista Call

I have been rolling around an idea for string art for a while and round 2 for the May Arts design team call was the perfect project to bring it all together.

Sometimes in meetings I doodle these little architectural people so I blew a pair up on the copy machine and had my brother cut them out of wood for me.

Then I had to get the wood figures a background that would work with the string art.

I painted them both with white heavy body acrylic paint.

Next I stamped both shapes with a Viva Las VegaStamps! background stamp, dictionary page in archival ink.

I used my Faber Castel big brush pen in black to outline both shapes.

I sanded the edges so the outline wasn't so bold.

Next I pounded small flathead nails in the shapes I wanted to create with string, his heart and her skirt.

I used May Arts burlap string in red for his heart.  I started at the bottom point and just started wrapping the string around the nails. Then I wrapped a boarder around, tied a knot, trimmed the string and but a dab of glue just in case.

I did the same with her skirt using the May Arts burlap string in pink.

I am so happy with how these turned out and how easy it was with this burlap string!

Aren't they CUTE!!

The bow of her skirt is May Arts 1-1/4" silk ribbon in violet.

Isn't is great how the background shows through the string?!!!

Thanks for coming by, I hope you liked my project and wish me luck!!

WOW Embossing Powder and Viva Las VegaStamps!

We on the Viva Las VegaStamps! design team got an awesome opportunity to swap with WOW Embossing Powder.

I just LOVE the depth embossing powder gives to stamped images!  It is also a perfect layer on embellishments such as chipboard pieces.

I created three tags using VLVS! background stamps for a subtle layer to start.  Then I stamped the main image and embossed for that awesome POP!

Here is the first tag:  Mermaid Kisses

Other items:  Um Wow Studio chipboard pieces, WOW embossing powder, May Arts ribbon, Distress ink, 7 Dots Studio Destination Unknown sticker and cheese cloth.

I love the sparkling embossing powder on the fishies!

Second tag: Live in the Moment

Other items used:  WOW embossing powder, May Arts ribbon and twine, Um Wow Studio chipboard, Tim Holtz dies and trinkets, Prima flower and pebbles, floral beads and Distress ink.

I used my sewing machine for a bit of stitching.

Third tag: A Little Rain...

Other items used:  May Arts ribbon and twine, Um Wow Studio chipboard, Wow embossing powder, Thickers, Dymo label maker, Distress ink and tiny attacher.

Perfectly sparkly rain drops!!
