Only A Number

Recently I met a bunch of creatives for a lovely Labor Day Soiree, we had an amazing time over the Labor Day holiday weekend.  It was full of creating, antiquing, wine drinking and chocolate doesn't get much better than that!

I started a project designed around a mold my friend Tina Walker cast with Amazing Mold Putty.  I poured Amazing Casting Resin into it and went from there.  I didn't get to finish it that weekend and have been staring at it for months waiting to be completed.  FINALLY I was inspired to complete it.

I am excited with the outcome and would like to share it with you while we wrap up 2016.

The numbers on the smaller panel is the resin cast, awesome right??!!  It is sprayed with Distress Spray to give it the gorgeous color.  The same sprays are used on the canvas also.

My winged princess is a few bits and bobs from my stash including a vintage charlotte doll.

Just look at that color on the resin!!  I used Prima wired thread to create the circles.

I hand stamped the sentiment...I had a big birthday this year so this really rings true for me!  I surely DO NOT feel my age!!

I finished up with some resistors and cheese cloth.

And there it is, now it is hanging on my wall where I can be reminded everyday that 'age is only a number'.

Thanks for visiting and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

The Frankensteins

We are hopping over at Viva Las VegaStamps! and our theme is famous monsters, fun right?!!

Here is our awesome line up!

*Michele Kosciolek*

I created a card duo to share with you featuring the Frankenstein's.

I used Frankenstein's Bolts and Bride of Frankenstein  for these cards.

With my Gelli Plate and Dina Wakely paints (cheddar and tangerine) I created the background using a couple of mixed media stamps.  (Six staples, stitching, staple X,  tape X, grunge circles

Monsters are stamped in archival ink and colored with Distress Markers.

The frames are cut from chipboard with a Tim Holtz die, painted black with accents of white crackle paint and some Distress Ink.

Finishing touches are Um Wow Studios chipboard ravens, Bazzill and Authentique papers and some Tim Holtz alphas.

I just love Halloween for creating!!  Bright colors and grunge together, it doesn't get any better than that.

Make sure to get to all the design team members blogs and see what they have up their sleeves, then back to VLVS! and let us know your favorite thing about Halloween.  Leave some love too, because there will be a prize up for grabs!!

Until next time...GET INKY!

Starting From the Same Place

My friend Tina Walker organizes some awesome artist collaborations, this one was the biggest!!  She had 60 people sign up to participate!
So with donations from companies like Beacons and Amazing Casting Products and from other artists, especially Tina, this is the package that all participants received to work with.
The only rule was that you have to use every item on your project.  We had eco dyed fabric, resin pieces, vintage bits and glue to name a few.  I got started right away and this is what I came up with.

I made a tiny junk journal.  I rusted a resin flower and gear die cuts with Art Basics rusting paste.

The cover is cardboard covered with eco dyed muslin sewn on with twine.

A vintage resistor secured my signatures at the spine.

Tina included an lovely mini Stencil Girl stencil, I used modeling paste to create the texture.

Some vintage pieces like a viewfiner wheel, music, postcard, library card, etc made up my signature.

The tiny vintage resistors created an amazing pocket for a tag!!

I absolutely LOVED creating with these items and adore each and every person who worked so hard to help but it all together.  A special thanks to the very genorous Tina for expanding my creative horizons!!

You can find links to a lot of the others projects here or here or here.  Browse around, leave some LOVE...everyone worked hard on their art and it SHOWS!!

Freaky Little Thing

The inspiration challenge for October at Viva Las VegaStamps! is up and I am linking up!!

I just love this little demon!!!
I created a card inspired by the images and colors.

I started with my gelli plate, Dina Wakely paint in Cheddar and Gilt and some Viva Las VegaStamps! images (Squiggly Star Collage and Stars).

The Whimsical Horned Boy is cut out and coated in Ultra High Gloss Embossing Powder and the sentiment (She Was a Freaky) was stamped on a little flag.

Writing Triangles and Stars were stamped in archival ink for another layer of the background.

A scrap from the gelli printed paper and white cardstock inside with the Fly and Striped Spider stamped.

I had so much fun with this card!!

You have all month to get linked up for your chance to WIN some awesome pink rubber!!

Autism Awareness-Light it up BLUE

Some of the Prima Ribbonistas are supporting Autism Awareness, April is Autism Awareness month.
Displaying asd.png

Autism Awareness Month is a time to educate your community about autism and Light It Up BLUE

Head over to the Ribbon Resource to enter to win some awesome BLUE ribbon and then get hopping!!

'The mutli-colored puzzle piece has become the international symbol of autism. Its significance has become multi-faceted. For some it represents the mystery and complexity of the disorder, for others it represents the mechanical nature of an autistics persons thought process. The bright colors are said to represent hope.'

I created a magnet using the puzzle pieces.

I started with some clay, rolled and cut a circle.  I put some holes in the piece before I baked it.

After the base was baked I painted the edge black.

The puzzle pieces and the letters are Um Wow Studio chip piecec paintd with Distress paint.
I punched holes in the puzzle pieces and used jump rings to hang.

I used the 1.5 inch white silk ribbon stain with Distress Spray to match the BLUE puzzle piece.

I glued a magnet on the back and VIOLA!

Spread the LOVE!!
